STATEMENTS OF FAITH
The New Life Evangelical Church believes that the Scripture is inspired and that the Holy Bible is the Word of God revealed to humanity. The Church follow the Bible as their only authority for guidance and regulation in matters of discipline and governance, as supported by II Timothy 3:15-17 and II Peter 1:21.
The New Life Evangelical Church affirms the belief in the One True God who exists in the form of a triune Godhead. This Godhead comprises of the Father, Jesus Christ, His Son, and the Holy Spirit, who is the third person of the Godhead. This conviction is based on biblical references such as John 10:36, 14:26, and John 20:21-22.
The New Life Evangelical Church believes in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Church firmly believe in His divinity, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miraculous works, His substitutionary and redemptive death through the shedding of His blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His future return in power and glory. These beliefs are rooted in scriptural references as in Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:18 and 23, and Luke 1:34-35.
The New Life Evangelical Church believes in the Special Creation. We believe the triune God created the universe apart from pre-existing materials and without any evolutionary process. (Genesis 1:1; Nehemiah 9:6; Psalms 102:25; Acts 14:15).
The New Life Evangelical Church acknowledges the existence of Satan, who was initially a flawless being but rebelled against God and turned into a corrupt and malevolent entity. Satan is considered as an adversary to God and His followers, leading a group of angels who also fell from grace. The Church believes that Satan was already judged and defeated at the cross, but his ultimate destruction will occur after the Millennial Reign, which happens after the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Biblical references such as Ephesians 2:2, I Thessalonians 3:5, I Peter 5:8, Revelation 12:9, 20:1-3, 7-10 support these beliefs.
The New Life Evangelical Church upholds the belief in the Fall of Man. According to their doctrine, humans were initially created as morally upright beings in the image and likeness of God. However, by wilfully disobeying God's command, man fell from this state and as a consequence, incurred spiritual death, that brought separation from God. This understanding is derived from biblical passages such as Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 2:17, 3:6 and Romans 5:12-19.
The New Life Evangelical Church believes in the Salvation of Man, where the sole means of redemption lies in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
To attain Salvation, a person must repent before God and have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Through the cleansing power of regeneration and the Holy Sprit's renewal, one becomes justified by grace through faith, and they become an inheritor of God's promises, including the assurance of eternal life. These principles are supported by biblical references such as Luke 24:47, John 3:3, Romans 10:13-15, Ephesians 2:8, and Titus 2:11, 3:5-7.
The proof of one's salvation can be observed in two ways. The first is an internal manifestation, which is the direct testimony of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:16). The second is an external manifestation that can be observed by everyone, which is a life that exemplifies righteousness and genuine holiness (Ephesians 4:24, Titus 2:12).
The New Life Evangelical Church upholds the doctrine of Sanctification of the Saints, which consist the following beliefs:
1) Sanctification involves separating oneself from that which is evil and devoting oneself to God, as mentioned in Romans 12:1-2, I Thessalonians 5:23, and Hebrews 13:12.
2) Through faith in the blood of Christ, sanctification can be attained as a second definite work of grace.
3) Sanctification is accomplished in believers by acknowledging their identification with Christ in His death and resurrection, faithfully recognizing and relying on this union every day, and submitting all aspects of their lives to the Holy Spirit's control, as described in Romans 6:1-11,13, Romans 8:1-2,13, Galatians 2:20, Philippians 2:12-13 and I Peter 1:5.
The New Life Evangelical Church believes in the importance of both Water Baptism and the Filling of the Holy Spirit.
1.Water Baptism is not a matter of personal preference, but rather a command for believers as established by Jesus through the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16). It is a public declaration of an inward faith, providing evidence of the transformation that has already occurred in the believer's life through faith in Jesus Christ. This ordinance associates the believer with the gospel message, the person of Christ, and other believers. By identifying with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, baptism signifies the death of the old self and the birth of a new creation in Christ (Romans 6:1-8, Colossians 2:12).
2. We affirm that the Holy Spirit is fully God, equal with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit's primary purpose is to glorify Jesus by convicting non-believers of their need for Christ, granting new birth to those who believe, and indwelling, sanctifying, leading, teaching, and empowering believers to live godly lives and serve others. We believe that all Christians should be filled with the Holy Spirit after their conversion. Additionally, we acknowledge that all spiritual gifts listed in the Bible (Romans 12:6-8, Ephesians 4:11, 1 Corinthians 12:8-10, 28-30) are still distributed by the Holy Spirit today. These gifts are essential provisions for spiritual growth and effective ministry and should be eagerly desired, faithfully developed, and lovingly exercised according to biblical principles. (John 3:3-8, John 14:15-27, John 16:5-15, Romans 8:9-17, 1 Corinthians 12-14, Galatians 5:16-26, Ephesians 5:18-21)
1. Water Baptism - As commanded in the Scriptures, baptism by immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Sprit is a symbolic act for those who repent and believe in Christ as their Saviour and Lord. Through this act, believers declare to the world that they have died with Christ and have been raised with Him to walk in newness of life.
2. Holy Communion - The Lord's Supper is a symbol of believers' sharing in the divine nature of Jesus Christ, a memorial of His suffering and death, and a prophecy of His second coming. This sacrament, consisting of bread and fruit of the vine, is enjoined on all believers "until He comes!"
3. Child Dedication - While the Church does not practice infant baptism since it is an outward expression of an inward work of grace, parents are encouraged to present their children to the Lord in child dedication and blessing until they are old enough to make their own choice and decision. This is based on the biblical examples of Luke 2:27 and Mark 10:13-16.
